For full details regarding the admissions process, please see our Admissions Policy.
Our school has a Published Admission Number (PAN) of 240 children for entry into Year 7. If this number is exceeded, which is common for popular schools such as ours, the school will follow the oversubscription criteria.
Places are first allocated to children who have an Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plan that names the school. If more applications are received than there are places available, priority will be given in the following order:
Looked after children and all previously looked after children. Previously looked after children are defined as children who appear to the admission authority to have been in state care outside of England before being adopted.
Students who live in the defined area associated with Moulton School. The sources do not define this area, so you may need to consult the full admissions policy for clarification.
Students attending one of Moulton School’s designated contributory primary schools at the time of application, and who continue to attend until the formal offer of places is made. These schools are:
Boughton Primary School
Brixworth CEVC Primary School
Harlestone Primary School
Moulton Primary School
Overstone Primary School
Pitsford Primary School
Sywell CE Primary School
The Bramptons Primary School
Walgrave Primary School
Children of staff employed by the school in the following circumstances:
Where the member of staff has been employed at Moulton School and Science College (MSSC) for two or more years at the time at which the application for admission to MSSC is made.
The member of staff is recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skills shortage.
Students who will have a sibling continuing at MSSC in the year of admission. This also applies to in-year admissions.
Other students.
If the admission number is exceeded within any of the criteria listed above, priority will be given to those who live closest to the school.
Distances are measured on a straight-line basis from the address point of the child’s home address to the address point of the school using a geographical information system.
This system uses the National Land and Property Gazetteer (NPLG), Ordnance Survey Master Map, Royal Mail Postal Address File, and The Valuation Office Agency to determine a unique address point for each property.
In the case of multiple applications from the same shared dwelling (e.g. flats), or where the distance between two or more children’s homes to the school is identical, random allocation will be used to decide which child gets priority. This process will be supervised by someone independent of the school and will use an online randomiser.
